Generic: Psyllium Husk
Agiolax is a sugar-free natural fiber supplement containing Psyllium Husk and Senna Extract. When mixed with water, it forms a pleasant orange-flavored drink that helps relieve constipation, regulate bowel movements, and support digestive health. It acts as a bulk-forming and stimulant laxative, making stool softer and easier to pass while promoting regular bowel function. It is also beneficial for individuals with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other bowel irregularities.
Composition & Ingredients
Each 100 gm effervescent powder contains Psyllium Husk (Ispaghula Husk) BP 65.00 gm + Senna Extract BP 2.54 gm (equivalent to Sennoside B 139.4 mg) & other ingredients.
Indications & Clinical Uses
Indicated for chronic and occasional constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), hemorrhoids (piles), bowel irregularity, hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, and as a supportive dietary fiber supplement for digestive health and cholesterol management.
Dosage & Administration
Usual Dose: 1 spoonful powder with water 1–3 times daily or as directed by a registered physician. Adults & Children above 12 years: 1 spoonful with water twice daily. Children 6–12 years: ½–1 spoonful with water, depending on age and weight, in the morning and at bedtime. Children below 6 years: Use only if recommended by a physician.
Side Effects & Adverse Reactions
Usually well tolerated with no significant side effects at the recommended dosage.
Contraindications, Storage & Safety
Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with gastrointestinal tract obstruction or bowel obstruction.
Drug Interactions: Psyllium Husk may interact with carbamazepine-containing medicines. Senna may interact with certain diuretic medications.
Pregnancy & Lactation: During pregnancy and lactation, use only under the advice of a physician.
